Middlesborough-based pop artist Jay Moussa-Mann has become something of a regular feature on this blog, having first hit these pages back in 2022.

Now I’m pleased to welcome her back with a new single. Ghosts sees Jay’s song writing at its more poignant and personal as it tells the story of heading to boarding school at the age of fourteen, having previously been home-schooled. Accepted on a bursary, Jay felt disconnected from her peers due to their relative wealth and she brings this sense of insecurity to life through an emotional pop ballad packed with autobiographical detail.

Yet through it all, Jay is able to find a silver lining, and expresses how the experience has made her the musician she is today.

It’s another wonderful track from an artist who has been celebrated by the likes of BBC 6 Music, BBC Tees Introducing and across the blogosphere.
