Hotel Mira are a Canadian alternative pop band who have just released their latest single Waste Away, and will be coming to play here in the UK next week.
By Graeme Smith
Hotel Mira are Los Angeles, USA-based frontman and songwriter Charlie Kerr, guitarist Clark Grieve, bassist Mike Noble and drummer Cole George.
Though the guys are just dipping their toes into the UK live scene, they’re already making a splash over in North America. Recently they played a string of shows at SXSW, have supported Billy Talent and Fizzy Blood, and have the kind of sound that could fill arenas.
Their new single Waste Away is a story of domestic abuse, and the tendency to blame yourself when you are the victim. It’s based on the experience of survivors that the band personally know and brings the difficult emotion to life through a vibrant yet melancholic pop rock arrangement with some captivating vocals and a powerful chorus.
Hotel Mira will be playing dates in London on 13 May (Moth Club) and 19 May (The Victoria, Dalston), as well as taking to the stage at Great Escape on 17 May.
The single is out now and you can check it out below.
