OXLIP returns with an eerie and poetic new single

Venice, California, USA-based Northern Irish singer songwriter OXLIP, real name Jayne Trimble, has had her music featured on this blog before, but not since 2022.

Her latest single Salt is a song about a devastating loss, brought to life through Jayne’s poetic lyrics and a musical mix of psychedelic folk and rock. It creates an unconventional feel. Looping, haunting piano is joined by soulful, crystalline vocals in the first verse before things draw to a striking halt. We get throat singing from Damien Jurado and a disorientating conclusion lingers long after its final note. It truly is a powerful piece of work.

OXLIP’s latest is more proof, if we needed it, of what a unique artist she is. It’s so great to have her back on these pages.

Salt is out now and you can check it out below.
