Unfortunate: The Untold Story of Ursula The Sea Witch Announced for York Opera House

Critically acclaimed musical parody Unfortunate: The Untold Story of Ursula the Sea Witch is embarking on a tour across the UK and is showing at the Grand Opera House York Tue 11 – Sat 15 June.

The Grand Opera House York is proudly supporting York Pride as one of the festival’s official wristband scheme partners. York Pride wristband holders have access to an exclusive ‘Unfortunate’ ticket offer, more details can be found on the York Pride website.

The show, written and directed by Leeds-born Robyn Grant, has an original hot pop soundtrack and trademark filthy humour, the show follows Disney Diva Ursula as she gives her take on what really happened all those years ago under the sea. Unfortunate tours off the back of a phenomenal 10-week London run, with rave reviews and six Off West End Theatre Award nominations – one of the highest for any show in the past year.

Ryan Harper, Head of Marketing and Communications at the theatre says ‘Unfortunate the musical parody is the perfect show for lovers of drag, comedy and musical theatre.  Having seen the show in London, the people of York are in for a treat. Be prepared for a night of naughtiness and camp adult fun.’

The smash-hit show is written by Robyn Grant (who also directs) and Daniel Foxx, with music, arrangements and orchestrations by Tim Gilvin.

Grant, Foxx and Gilvin say ‘We hope you leave ready to take on the world, aching from booming villainous laughter and considering an undercut. We’ve had the absolute most fun making this glorious monstrosity, we hope you enjoy your time with her too’
