Alberta Cross rework their 2007 debut with a host of stars

As a taster of the reworked The Thief and The Heartbreaker, Alberta Cross teams up with the legendary Katie Melua to create a new version of Lucy Rider.

By Graeme Smith

Anglo-Swedish rock band Alberta Cross first came to prominence in the 2000s, originally releasing The Thief and The Heartbreaker in 2007. They met Katie at the time, and she helped them get a the attention they needed for a record deal. This collaboration feels natural.

The reworked Lucy Rider acts as once as a nostalgia trip for long-time fans and an introduction for those who missed them the first time around. It canters along with some jangly country-rock sensibilities and the emotion of its story is beautifully brought to life through Katie’s unmistakable vocals.

Lucy Rider is out now and you can check it out below.
