Friend is the second single from Sweden’s Sarah von Reis‘s upcoming debut album and tells the story of the destructiveness that comes with boredom.
By Graeme Smith
Sarah was once a member of the pop group Dolly Style but her solo work takes her sound in an experimental rock direction.
“I hope someone listens to it alone while drunk!” exclaims Sarah, talking about her new single. It certainly has a dark edge about it, chronicling a tough time in her life as he moved from Gothenburg to Stockholm, and had a go at breaking America in New York and Los Angeles. Sarah’s vocals are almost whispered during a hazy verse before things build to a dreamy, unexpected chorus and then finally a dizzying climax.
Friend was produced by Michelle Amkoff. It’s out now via Reef Road Records and you can check it out below.
