Tom b returns with an important and striking collaboration

Originally appearing on this blog last year, London-based producer Tom b has teamed up with Lucy Wroe to deliver an important message about the music industry and wider world in their new single Cold Water.

By Graeme Smith

Frustrated with the plight of independent artists in the music industry, Tom and Lucy got together to provide an unflinching account of their experiences. Lucy’s contribution is a powerful one, providing a perspective on the additional challenges that come with being a female artist.

The message is underpinned by a fresh and unexpected instrumental, which combines bright pop with experimental electronica. The result is something that feels familiar yet challenging, and the clever use of vocal effects adds to the soulfulness of it all.

Initially released exclusively on Bandcamp, all profits made through sales on the platform will be donated to The Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund. You can get your digital copy of the track here, and can check out the single below.
