Inspired as much by the new moon as she is by classic country singers like Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash, Laura da Sousa is appearing on our pages for the first time with her new single Dark Moon.
By Graeme Smith
Though new to us, Laura has been heralded by the likes of FVMusicBlog and BBC Introducing, and is a rising star of the Yorkshire scene.
Dark Moon is a deeply personal story told through a gentle and melancholic acoustic folk arrangement. Poetic and image-laden lyrics paint a vivid picture while Laura’s vocals bring the emotion of it all to life. As the track progresses, mournful strings and celestial electronica come in creating an immersive atmosphere.
You can catch Laura perform live at the Beverley Folk Festival on 21 June. Dark Moon is out now and you can check it out below.
