Everyone knows the song I Shot the Sheriff, but I bet you’ve never heard it done like this before! Canadian reggae singer François Marius is one of a kind, changing cover songs for the better with his unique style. I was intrigued and wanted to find out a little more about François – see how we got on below!

What can you tell us about the song?
My song is a rendition of the classic Bob Marley song I Shot The Sheriff., recorded in the stunning Estonian city of Tallinn and mastered at the storied Abbey Road Studios in London by Simon Gibson, Grammy Awards winner for his Beatles album.
How has the reception to I Shot The Sheriff been so far, and where can it be purchased?
This new interpretation of Bob Marley’s classic I Shot The Sheriff caught attention of music enthusiasts and was praised by critics upon its release, it’s available for purchase or streaming on all major music platform (Amazon and Apple Music, Spotify, Soundcloud).
Can we expect any more covers from you in the near future?
There is a possibility I will do new covers in a near future, and why not!
Do you have any more singles planned for release soon?
Definitely yes, you can expect more singles from me very soon.
Are there any plans to release an album or EP anytime soon?
An EP will be released within a year from now. The next step will be an album or LP.
Your music has a reggae rock sound. What/who are you most influenced by? What have you been listening to recently?
My background and influences mostly come from soul music and reggae. Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley and Jimmy Cliff are among my favourites.
You’re based in Canada. What is the local music scene like in your area?
Although my home base is Montreal, in the Quebec province of Canada, I am currently located in Tallinn, Estonia.
Do you have anything else exciting coming up over the next few months?
Always stay tuned. I am excited to announce surprises at any moment!
Do you have any tour dates lined up for the UK?
Not yet, but I hope to very soon.
