Jada Star, niece of country music icon Dolly Parton, is an up and coming country music singer and songwriter whose voice is filled with mountain sweetness and rich with Appalachian nostalgia.
By James Reeves
Her lyrics capture the vivid storytelling of country music of old and, much like the country songwriters of the past, she is tapping into the organic roots of the genre that modern country often overlooks.
Jada, who recently played at Glastonbury, is touring the UK in order to not only promote her music, but also her inclusion on the Parton family album Parton and Family: Smoky Mountain DNA: Family, Faith, and Fables (releasing 15 November, followed by a docuseries of the same name) which sees she and her family connect to the Old World roots of country music including English, Welsh, Irish, and Scottish folk ballads which involved into Appalachian music.
Through this album, she and her family are acknowledging and tapping into the very DNA of country music and, by doing so, are discovering their own Old World roots. In her music, she connects with these Old World roots, and her beautiful mountain voice is reminiscent of the country music greats of the past. Though she shares the blood of country music royalty, she perfectly carves her own way with her talented song writing ability and incredible mountain voice.
Jada will be performing at Bacca Pipes Folk Club in Keighley on 5 July at 7:30pm, and The Maverick Music Festival in Suffolk, followed by subsequent UK dates. For up to date information on Jada’s music after and upcoming projects, visit her Instagram.
