Liquid Gold is a self-styled “nugget of sexy electro pop” that comes courtesy of new York Calling discovery Lycio.

Good things come to those who wait, it is said, and that’s the case with Liquid Gold. The band have been working on it to some degree since 2018, haggling over the arrangement and preening it until it’s perfect. The result is something to behold.

Jangly percussion opens things with some striking ambience before soulful and passionate vocals come in. Things stay wonderfully stripped-back through the first verse before exploding in a lively groove that will have you moving along.

Over the next year, Lycio will be teasing their debut EP and I can’t wait to hear more from it!
