Macedo modernise the ’80s with bouncy new pop track and video, Optimistic.

Macedo are an indie band consisting of twin sisters Melissa and Michelle Macedo. As well as making music, the pair are actors who have featured in the film Secrets of the Universe and Netflix’s Girlboss.

They’ve just come to my attention for the first time through their new track and video Optimistic. Right from the off, the ’80s influences are apparent in both. We get layers of synths and punchy electronic percussion. A bouncing beat demands you move along while charismatic vocals will have you hooked. As you might guess from its title, Optimistic is a bright and uplifting number, encouraging us to eschew fear and chase our dreams.
