Led by Avery Mandeville, Little Hag are a band that have just come to my attention through their striking and visceral new track, Suck Out The Pain.

Though new to me, Little Hag have quite the musical résumé, having shared stages with the likes of Interpol, Spoon, and my personal favourites, Bright Eyes.

Joining Avery in its line-up are Matt Fernicola, Owen Flanagan, Mitchell Warren-Devlin and Cara Introcaso. They’ve been going since 2016, but it’s taken until now for me to discover their music. I’m so glad I have.

Suck Out The Pain has a stripped-back intro that gives plenty of space to its visceral lyrics. Avery’s lilting vocals are instantly striking and unique, and the riffs that drop after the first verse hit hard. I’ve not heard much like it, and I definitely want to hear more.

Fortunately for us, Little Hag are about to release a new album, Now That’s What I Call Little Hag, set for release 23 August 2024 via Bar/None Records. You can pre-order it here.
