Nova Soon returns with an authentic love song

In June this year, Noah de Grunwald aka Nova Soon captivated me with his raw and honest rumination on assisted dying, Antarctica. When I saw he had a new single out, I knew I had to write about it. It’s called Four Walls & The Sky.

By Graeme Smith

Noah’s latest explores the same period of time as Antarctica, reflecting on the passing away of his father, and the illness of his mother. Yet, it focusses on brighter happenings, and the meeting of the love of his life. So, it’s a love song, but one unlike any you’ve heard before.

We get delicate piano and acoustic guitar to set the emotional tone but the stand out feature is the lyrics. They are beautifully expressed by Noah and rich with striking imagery. The decision to put out the first take gives it an authentic feel while the subtle additions by producer James Smithells provide plenty of texture.

Both Antarctica and Four Walls & The Sky will feature on EP Goodbyetown. Nova Soon’s latest single is out now and you can give it a listen below.
