Morpeth-based duo Mercurius return with new single, Rifle.

Under the performing name James & Paul, and as Mercurius, father and son duo James and Paul Brown have been featuring on our pages since 2022. The pair say they are about ready to start performing live, and on the evidence of their recorded work, it should be a good show.

Their latest single Rifle is a lively number that combines reggae with classic folk rock and storytelling lyrics that are beautifully delivered by soulful vocals. Telling the tale of a soldier trapped behind enemy lines, it’s a memorable and well-put-together track that instantly and permanently makes its way into your head.

Rifle was recorded at Blast Studio in Newcastle, and produced by Ollie. The track is out now and you can give it a listen below.
