Nuggaet serve up fun-loving alt rock with debut album

Childhood friends Ivan Peric and William Lacrosse, aka Nuggaet, bring the energy with their debut album, 10-Piece.

A duo side-dish of the band Tainted Milk, Nuggaet is that rarest of things – a band inspired by fast food. You’d expect a lot of humour from such a project, and with their debut album 10-Piece, you won’t be disappointed, but they are anything but a novelty act.

Nuggaet takes a bite out of our modern world across each of the album’s ten tracks, exploring themes such as indifference, rebellion and much more. The soundtrack is rock of a raw alternative metal variety, introduced straight from the off by chanting, rowdy opener Waste My Time.

Nuggets (Not at McD) keeps the tempo high and cements the pair’s love for surreal repetition before I Don’t Like Anything gets dark with its unhinged nihilism. It’s an early highlight.

Not a Country Song introduces some folksy flair alongside its big riffs. Galactose Intolerant brings with it some heavy metal passion. Rigitoni is speedy and storytelling. SpacaeX is static-y and severe. Control Board swaggers with elements of glam rock. The self-effacing My Band Is Real Dumb proves to be another heavyweight highlight before the album is closed by anti-ASMR vignette WARNING.

If you’re into raw, rousing alternative rock that doesn’t take itself too seriously, then you’re going to find a lot to love about 10-Piece. Nuggaet keep things interesting throughout, and aren’t afraid to get down and dirty in a world that often strives from perfection over enjoyment. Their debut a wonderfully greasy snack.
