Northern Ireland-born, California, USA-based OXLIP returns with healing tale of Belfast’s blind harpers, 12 Blind Boys.

Over the past few years, OXLIP’s (real name Jayne Trimble) music has graced our pages three times, always enchanting us with her unique poetry and unexpected take on the folk genre.

Her latest is a stripped-back but lively number, delivered beautifully through Jayne’s lilting vocals. They paint a vivid picture with their lyrics, based on the true story of the Belfast blind who were taught the harp to preserve the tradition, while a jaunty piano and strings arrangement uplifts us. Things break down for a soulful interlude before the track ends triumphantly.

12 Blind Boys was produced by Damien Jurado. It’s out now via World Peach Records and you can give it a listen below.
