Hailing from down the road in Hull, The Paper Monsters are featuring on our pages for the first time thanks to their new single, Another Lie (It’s True).

The Paper Monsters are lead vocalist, drummer and guitarist Reuben Start, bassist Nick Mathers, lead guitarist Matt Harvey, drummer Devon Start, and keyboardist/cellist Lewis Fryer.

Nominally an indie rock band, the label doesn’t quite cover all that The Paper Monsters are about. They love to blend genre, and their new single is a case in point. Taking its time to unfold over five minutes, we get a gentle yet devastating sound that’s full of sorrow and soul. Just as you think you’ve got the measure of the track, we get unexpected vocal distortions and lingering acoustic guitar.
