Lisa Humber explores the blue side of Christmas by covering an Elvis classic.

A Toronto, Canada-based indie pop musician, Lisa Humber has appeared once before on our blog when I ran the rule over her track and video Dance Within back in July 2024.

Her new track and video is a take on one of my favourite Christmas songs, Elvis Presley’s Blue Christmas. Lisa’s version strips back the original, slowing it down and giving it a powerfully vulnerable feel. Her vocal is beautifully compelling as always, giving the track’s emotion due care and attention.

It’s a full-circle moment for Lisa who started her song-writing journey with Boxing Day, a story of fleeting romance during the holidays. Blue Christmas was created in collaboration with producer and guitarist Justin Abedin who also worked on Dance Within. It’s out now and you can check out its video below.
