Spencer Sanders debuts on our blog with heart-warming album, Almanac: Volume 1.
By Graeme Smith
An American singer songwriter, Spencer Sanders has just come to our attention for the first time through his debut album, Almanac: Volume 1. A personal exploration of life’s journey with its high, lows and in-betweens it includes tales of friendship breakup, overcoming differences, healing, almost-love, and wanderlust.
The collection is opened by previously released single Rust. It’s a delicate and welcoming start, combining an intimate instrumental with lyrics that are full of resolve. They soulfully delivered by Spencer’s voice which I found immediately compelling and the big finish is simply stirring.
Three other singles feature on the album – Paradise Found, Iced Moonshine and Golden Age. The former is a dreamy mid-album highlight while the others close the album with folksy storytelling and triumphant catharsis respectively.
Elsewhere we get the soaring Someday Soon, the deep lyricism of Wishing Wells, the reluctantly hopeful Maybe… and the melancholic ballad War & Peace.
With his debut album, Spencer Sanders has created a beautiful collections that’s simply brimming with love. His ability to weave a tale in his lyrics is captivating, and each note is delivered with authentic emotion. If you’re looking for something to warm your heart during these cold December days, then look no further.
Almanac: Volume 1 was produced by Dean Miller and Landon Alley. It’s out now and you can give it a listen below.
