9 o’clock Nasty take on entitlement with new mix of their track King Thing

9 o’clock Nasty have the unique ability to skewer society’s darker tendencies through a mix of surrealism and hard rock. Their latest single release is no exception.

We’ve been loving their music on this blog since 2022 and, given their prolific nature, I’m not sure any act has featured on our pages more. Recently, we’ve been sharing tracks from their upcoming album THIS IS CROWLAND but their latest track isn’t taken from that record.

Originally released in 2023, King Thing gets a 2025 remix for a compilation album that 9 o’clock Nasty were asked to be part of. The new mix breathes new life into a biting number that takes on white male privilege and the sense of entitlement and superiority that certain people feel.

The track gets going with a funky percussive groove before attitude-laden vocals come in. As ever, 9 o’clock Nasty’s irreverent lyrics shine, full of edgy poetry. Stripped-back verses trade blows with lush choruses before arriving a lingering outro that will stick with you.

King Thing features on the Lucy Phillips Arts Fund compilation I’m Not A Fucking Metronome available to buy on Bandcamp. The single is out now and you can give it a listen below.
