Hailing from north of the border up in Glasgow, Sick pay are an alternative rock and punk band who have just come to my attention through their latest single, Get Well Soon.

Opening low and simmering, Get Well Soon takes no time boiling over with some driving drums and jangly guitar. The tempo never lets up through an anthemic verse in which the vocals ooze with charisma and a certain world-weariness. It’s not until the chorus that things get really raucous though, and for good measure we get some wailing guitar to close things out. That’s all within two minutes, by the way.
