Bone Wars are a Huddersfield-based act who are new to us thanks to their gigantic new anthem, Terrible Lizards.

Opening with the lingering riffs, Terrible Lizards is a track that gradually builds before launching on a tirade that combines the best of rock and folk. It’s a distinct sound that makes you sit up a listen, especially when the soulful vocals come in. Paired with layers of harmony and an instrumental that simply doesn’t quit, it all adds up to something special. The track takes its time unfolding, clocking in at an impressive 6+ minutes – plenty of time to get your groove on.

Consisting of bassist Sully Evans, drummer Den Wallbanks, keyboardist Steven Beever, and songwriter, vocalist and guitarist Leo Brazil, Bone Wars are promising plenty more releases tied together by a dinosaur theme. I have no doubt they’re going to take us on some wonderous psychedelic journeys if their debut single is anything to go by. They’re definitely one for fans of mould-breakers like Pink Floyd, The Zombies and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, but I really feel like Bone Wars are giving us something we’ve not heard before. It’s a bonus that they’re also out here representing our fair county.
