Discovery: Tyson Dickert gives us cosmic, compositional rock in latest album

Drawing on the soaring and cinematic sounds of Pink Floyd, Radiohead and Tycho, Beneath the Stars, We Dream of Tomorrow’s Sun is the latest album from guitarist, composer and producer Tyson Dickert.

By Graeme Smith

Tyson is a new discovery for us, and we’re a little late to the part with his music. Still, once I heard Beneath the Stars… I knew I wanted to share it. Its ten tracks give us rock that’s full of atmosphere, starting right from the hypnotic riffs of album opener When the Stars Seem Close Enough to Touch.

There’s a sense of wonder that flows right through it all, with each track taking us on a journey that ranges from the cosmic to the ponderous. In The Mind of the Silent Sculptor canters along with a bristling indie rock undercurrent. Children of the Moon is expansive and anthemic. The Beautiful End of Everything builds to a dramatic finish. The Journey has a simmering dynamism. June 27th 2024 closes things in contemplative style.

Sometimes a good old fashioned noodle-fest is what you need to pick you up and Tyson’s album has that by the bowlful. If you like your rock music with an emphasis on composition, then you’re going to love it.

Beneath the Stars… is out now and you can give it a listen below.
