Going To Marbella is the new album from Klintmoor which offers tales of life, love, friendship and despair.
By Graeme Smith
Opening in contemplative style, we are introduced to a timeless sound through Offline. It’s a song that rails against our digital world with a calm, almost mournful voice and a longing for real connection.
Across the album’s twelve tracks we get a mix of traditional pop, bossa nova, swing, and blue eyed soul – all classic genres. What Klintmoor carefully does is apply them to modern themes, meaning that each song feels relevant in 2025.
Title track Going to Marbella is bright and breezy, capturing the act of getting away perfectly. Cupid Is A Devil is tender and intimate. I Thought We Were Friends is devastating with a sense of heartbreak before Tuesday Morning lightens the mood during a laidback number. Move On rounds off the album’s first half in gentle and encouraging style.
The album’s second half gives us more genre-straddling through the funky and romantic Just a Minute, the soft and soulful S.O.S., and the swinging and exotic Mineko Sweet. Tea Time introduces some soaring soft rock while Infinities of Love is wistful and jazzy. Waiting for the Rainbow closes the album in hopeful style with some warm guitar picking and peaceful ambience.
Klintmoor’s new album is a well-thought-out collection for lovers of the classics. Yet, there’s enough modernity to its compositions that means it fits right at home in the here and now.
Going to Marbella is out 7 March 2025.
