We’re big fans of the music of Spanish-German singer-songwriter Luna Keller on this blog. She’s among the artists who has most frequently appeared on our pages, and we never tire of hearing more from her.

Her new EP, Rescue Songs, has been teased by a string of singles, culminating in the record’s release. It’s an interesting concept for a collection. Through a Kickstarter campaign, Luna invited her fanbase to choose the tracks that feature on it from her unreleased catalogue of over 500 songs. The campaign raised over €9k to help the project come to fruition.
The songs chosen were Shivering, Burn Out The Sun, Don’t Kill The Butterfly, Same Street, Good Intentions, and Oxígeno. The former gets things going in delicate, vulnerable, finger-picked style while the latter, Luna’s first release in Spanish, closes things with a passionate Latin twist.
In between, Burn Out The Sun addresses burnout through relatable lyrics and a stripped-back instrumental, Don’t Kill The Butterfly provides a bittersweet and cinematic moment of melancholy and Same Street bring some smouldering storytelling. Good Intentions proves a highlight thanks to its slow-burning style and intimate imagery.
Luna Keller is such a charming artist and brings plenty of herself to her music. Her innovative approach to each new release should be applauded. It’s beautiful to see her career developing right before our eyes.
Rescue Songs is out now and you can give it a listen below.
