Last month, Marble Raft appeared on our blog through their lush concept album, Dear Infrastructure. Now, the Swedish dream pop duo have released a video for one of the album’s tracks.

Dear Infrastructure was a delight to listen to and in my review I described it as “a wonderous and poetic trip.” A concept album that describes the story of two fictional teenagers wandering through a metropolis, their new video, created by Jonna Laurin, adds a visual dimension to one of the tale’s pivotal moments, Here In Your Backyard.

The video combines found footage of children with psychedelic, colourful overlays, creating an effect that feels both nostalgia and otherworldly. There’s a playfulness about it all which perfectly mirrors the music. A dreamy and speculative instrumental provides the backdrop for Olle Söderström’s and Gabrielle Baker’s back and forth vocals.

Marble Raft are certainly one of my favourite finds of late. They combine a unique sound with oodles of charisma and tell stories that are both engrossing and insightful. If you haven’t checked out Dear Infrastructure yet then I highlight implore you to do so. It will transport you.
