Based in Nashville, USA, Afton Wolfe is a singer songwriter who has just come to my attention through his latest track, King of the Blues.

As you’d expect, the single is a bluesy one. Afton takes on many of the genre’s trope while elevating them with a poetic attention to detail with his lyrics. I was thoroughly absorbed the storytelling display, with plenty of knowing nods.

It’s all emoted beautifully by his gruff vocals which are provided plenty of space by the stripped-back instrumental. It’s a perfectly balanced track.
