Discovery: Jacre flips the breakup anthem in new single

Hailing from Blackborough near Exeter, Jacre is a British indie pop singer songwriter who has come to our attention for the first time through his latest single, Brighter on the Edge.

What struck me about Brighter on the Edge is its mix of relatable lyrics and a bright pop rock instrumental. A break-up song, it flips the established narrative of mourning into one of resilience.

“I wanted to write something that captured that moment when you stop looking back and start moving forward—when you realise that the edge isn’t something to fear, but a place where the light shines brightest,” says Jacre.

His voice is beautifully compelling throughout the track and particularly during an anthemic chorus. They are enhanced by singalong harmonies there, amounting to something that is greater than the sum of its parts.

Brighter on the Edge is out now and you can give it a listen below.
