Bringing us indie rock, dream pop and a desire not to take life too seriously, Lost & Found is the upcoming EP from Wails.

We’re all a bit strange, us human beings, as is the life we have collectively constructed for ourselves, full of quirks and contradictions. It’s this topic that Houston, USA-based Wails launches headlong into for their upcoming EP, Lost & Found, a collection written quickly and recorded slowly.
Getting going with Lights Out we get an instant taste of their dreamy sound. Layers of guitar create the early atmosphere before delicate vocals come in. It’s all set to a waltzing beat and acts almost as a lullaby with its story of escaping the outside world.
Across the record’s five tracks, Wails gives us variation, a surprising amount. Yet, it never loses its cohesion. Next Time Around livens things up with a percussive, electronic effort while Empty Hands injects some contemplative moodiness into proceedings. It’s a mid EP highlight.
Animal opens ambient, with touches of shoegaze blurring together with acoustic folk to create a heady mix. 2Sides closes the EP, giving us a final, experimental twist that combines a punchy rhythm with soft overtones and a sense of wistfulness.
Lost & Found is set for release 2 May 2025. You can pre-save it here.
