Coming complete with an animated video by Julia Müller, Bluebells is a beautiful new track by Xav Clarke.
By Graeme Smith
The more I hear from Xav Clarke, the more I love his ability to balance a bright instrumental arrangement with a heavy-hitting lyrical message. Bluebells explores mortality through a whimsical, whistling indie pop arrangement, with the emotion of it all brought to life through Clarke’s laidback vocals and Müller’s psychedelic video.
“Bluebells lives in the same world as a song like Do You Realise by The Flaming Lips,” explains Clarke. “A rare kinda of song that refuses to be sad about death, instead turning it into a cosmic journey full of positivity and transcendence, I wanted to create a sonic woodland of otherworldly sounds and determined ’70s stomp.”
The single will feature alongside previously released single None of It’s Yours Anyway on Clarke’s upcoming album, Fossil Forest, set for release 9 May 2025. It’s available to pre-order as a digital album and on vinyl now.
