Margaret River, Australia’s Caitty is an artist who is always pushing her sound, and her latest Revenge might be her most experimental to date.
By Graeme Smith
Opening dark and brooding, we get a sense of menace from Revenge. Caitty’s expressive vocals grab your attention as they tell their sinful story in the verse before they become soaring and emotional in the chorus. The lyrics speak of payback, and don’t hold their punches.
It’s quite a different sound to what we’ve heard from her in the past. Two previous singles have appeared on our pages, Fishing Trips and Alone, both sitting in the folk pop space. Her latest redefines what we can expect from her and I’m excited about where she takes her sound next.
“I learn so much more with every release I put out,” Caitty says, “and I can’t think of anything I would rather do than take words off the paper and watch them unfold into something insane – truly lucky.”
Revenge is out now and you can give it a listen below.
