Joining forces with York Calling favourite The Magic Lantern, Tom O C Wilson is new to our blog through his new single, Better Off.

A track that opens soft and percussive before expressive vocals come in, Better Off feels at once classic and unconventional. At its heart is an emotional story of finding one’s feet after trauma. There’s a brightness to it, but it’s a reluctant one, one that slowly builds in confidence.
London-based Wilson is new to these pages, but his collaborator, Australian singer-songwriter The Magic Lantern aka Jamie Doe, has been appearing here since 2018. Doe handles vocals on Better Off while Wilson writes and arranges. The single is out now and you can give it a listen below.
