With the industrial farming complex firmly in its crosshairs, Factory Hell is the fiery new punk single from Maz & The Phantasms.

Factory Hell is a raucous, rousing rock track that combines a punk edge with pop vibrancy. Maz’s lead vocals steal the show, chanting characterfully in the verse before things get glitched out. Monster riffs rally, giving us plenty to shout about. Lyrically, the track reflects on factory farming practices, and doesn’t hold back.

“This song was aimed to paint a picture of modern hell,” says Maz. “As someone who was raised religious, I was always fascinated by the different artistic and cultural interpretations of hell throughout history: a place of endless, repetitive torment and punishment. Industrial animal farming seems to be the closest to that now. It’s where machinery interferes with life on a mass scale – creating both mechanical coldness and flesh-and-blood suffering.”

Formed by Glasgow-based Catalan-Egyptian Mariam El Sadr, Maz & The Phantasms have been performing on the Scottish live circuit since 2022. They’re new to our blog, but I doubt this will be the last we hear from them.
