A country singer, songwriter and storyteller who captured our hearts back in November 2024, D’Lee has released her latest single, Everything Is Fine.
By Graeme Smith
There’s more than touch of irony about the title of Everything Is Fine. Powerfully relatable, the track speaks of just scraping by through life. In that sense, it’s country in its purest form. It’s for the broken hearted, a stripped-back ballad that reflects the world around it.
“As a songwriter, I wanted to tell a truth we all hide,” D’Lee shares. “We throw out ‘I’m fine’ like it’s armour. I wanted to reveal how many of us feel so often, but so rarely have the courage to share. This song is about what lies underneath that armour.”
If that all sounds like doom and gloom, then don’t worry. D’Lee’s riveting vocals elevate its story and things rally for a big, cinematic finish.
Everything Is Fine is a strong follow-up to her debut EP, Wonder Woman, which I ran the rule over in November 2024, describing it as “six distinct tracks that showcase her range.” Now, we’ve heard even more of that impressive range. The track will feature on her upcoming EP/album, 55, set for release later this year. Producer Jacob Kulick had this to say of the upcoming record:
“Recording D’Lee’s sophomore album has been a rewarding experience. As her producer based in Nashville, I’m constantly inspired by artists who bring heart and authenticity to the studio, and D’Lee does just that. She has a deep passion for song writing and an unwavering drive to evolve musically. While her debut leaned heavily into southern country roots, this new record expands into fresh sonic territory, exploring different genres while still holding onto the soul of her origins. It’s been a joy to help bring her vision to life.”
Everything Is Fine is out now and you can give it a listen below.
