Miya Zawa search for a dream crush in sultry new single

Fronted by Sara Flint, Miya Zawa is an act that’s proving irresistible.

By Graeme Smith

As we’ve come to expect from Flint’s music, her latest like damn (whoa) is a sensual number showing us the bright side of Miya Zawa’s sound. A fun and memorable chorus is the jewel in the track’s crown, beautifully expressed by the vocals. All the while the beat stays cool and steady, and rich with percussive textures.

“The opening lines: ‘I wanna have it, like the last time, but I think the world is testing my lines’ – for so long I was looking for a love like my last, which had all the intensity of teenage feelings,” Flint explains. “I didn’t want to settle for a mediocre relationship, and never understood why people were settling.

“At the start of the song, I’m questioning relationships and hesitating to be a part of them. Then the chorus marks meeting someone who changes all that, and shifts the way I’ve looked at things (‘She got it so good I’m like damn WHOA!’). By the second verse, I’m in it. It’s sparkly and new but I also know that there’s ups and downs. This is an ultimate dream crush song. I never actually had this crush; it was more of a manifestation at the time. Manifesting the kind of feelings I dreamed of. It worked by the way!”

In March 2025, we shared Miya Zawa’s track So Sick and before that, plenty from Flint and Tom Brereton in the guise of Apricot Ink. The Australians are firm favourite for us.
