Self-produced, composed and sung by London-based Stella Matteoni, Imposter Syndrome is an impressive pop track that’s got her on our radar.
By Graeme Smith
Imposter Syndrome opens soulful and simmering, giving plenty of space to Matteoni’s charismatic vocals, before bursting into bright pop life. The lightness of the instrumental somewhat disguises the weightiness of the lyrics, which, appropriately enough, speak of disguising one’s true feelings. A truly catchy number, its chorus will get firmly stuck in your head, and things end big and brassy.
Matteoni draws inspiration for her sound from the likes of Lily Allen and The Beatles, giving it a distinctly British flavour. Imposter Syndrome is one of the best tracks I’ve heard for awhile. I’ll be keeping an eye out for more from her.
The single is out now and you can give it a listen below.
