A tongue-in-cheek tale of an imagined ‘perfect woman,’ She Drives Me is the new single from Brown Mountain Lightning Bugs.

By Graeme Smith

She Drives Me is a track chock full of banjo-plucking folk and country with a stomping beat and characterful vocals. There’s a vibrant energy to it all while its lyrics speak of love and homesickness. Its rhythm is toe-tappingly infectious and things get beautifully gritty in the chorus. The groove never quits as the track expands to its full length, which is over six minutes, arriving at a psychedelic breakdown of a finish.

The band’s Zach Harding wrote the song about his ideal woman who he believes likely doesn’t exist. Teaming up with Kendra Harding and Wayne Redden, they brought the track to life in the studio in late 2024.

She Drives Me is out now and you can give it a listen below.
