A song that grapples with anxiety and overthinking, A Knack for Overthinking is the latest release from York Calling favourite Ryan Cassata.

His latest single shows a softer side of Cassata’s sound. It’s vulnerable, confessional and told against a gentle rock backdrop. As we arrive at the first chorus, the instrumental kicks up to a punk rock style that’s not quite as raucous as we’ve grown used to from him, but still has plenty of bite.
The track was penned by Cassata with Loren Barnese, inspired by the underground queer party scene, where drugs, dancing, and sexuality are all the rage. The video reflects this, following a newly formed trans and non-binary couple sharing their first kiss at a skate park and the anxiety that moment brings. The story is interspersed with footage of Ryan Cassata + The Top Surgeons performing in the skate bowl at Echo Park Skate Park.
A Knack for Overthinking is out now via Kill Rock Stars. You can give it a listen below.
