Increasingly a favourite on our pages, ANACY is back with perhaps her most emotionally-stirring single to date. It’s called It’s Not You.

It’s Not You is a moody and intimate effort from ANACY. The stripped-back instrumental in the first verse gives plenty of space to the poetry of the lyrics and the expression of the vocals. As the track progresses, piano adds a cinematic drama before a driving bass rhythm kicks in. Lyrics speak of love, heartache and avoidant attachment in beautifully emotive terms while an animated lyric video enhances their narrative. Things fade out, but the composition has a lingering quality that will stick with you.

The track is the latest wonder from a Cape Town, South Africa-based artist who we can’t get enough of on this blog. It was in August 2024 that we first featured her music, and rarely miss a chance to share more of it, featuring previous singles Hot Mess, Frosty, and Tattooed To My Heart.

It’s Not You was produced at Bombsquad Studios with producer Mpho Mantyi. It was then mixed and mastered at Sunset Recording Studios. The single is out now and you can give it a listen below.
