Super Tuesday returns to soundtrack our summer

The project of singer-songwriter Alex Kisch, Super Tuesday returns to our blog with his latest album, Through The Static.

By Graeme Smith

Through The Static is an album of bright, summery indie rock which is at times lively and at times chilled. It brings together ’70s rock, ’90s Britpop and modern indie to give the record a timeless feel. Kisch is a seasoned songwriter with an ear for a tune and that shines through on his latest.

Title track Through The Static is an early highlight thanks to its dreamy groove and memorable melody. The lyrics are understatedly upbeat, especially during a soaring chorus. We get some delicious wordplay in the romantic Lucky Stars. Soaking Up The Silence is thought-provokingly philosophical. The Right Thing skewers selfishness while My Love Don’t Sleep is charmingly earnest.

In the ’90s Kisch gained notoriety stateside as a member of seminal Boston-based alt-rockers Dirt Merchants, playing on the road with the likes of Bush, Fig Dish, Letters to Cleo and Pond. Since taking up the Super Tuesday mantel, he’s appeared on our blog once before through his 2024 album, Future Tense.

It’s great to have him and his song writing skills back on our pages. If you like the alt-rock sound of R.E.M. or Wilco, you’ll find a lot of love for what he’s doing as Super Tuesday.

Through The Static is out 20 June 2025.
