An exploration of digital addiction, AI, and humanity’s future, We Are All Bots is the new three-track EP from Andrea Pizzo and The Purple Mice.
By Graeme Smith
As ever, we get a cosmic sound from Pizzo and his Purple Mice. The act lists among their influences Queen, Muse, Vangelis, and Pink Floyd, and we get similarly offbeat, psychedelic style in EP opener and title track, We Are All Bots. The instrumental is paired with passionate vocals that deliver plenty of poetry.
To The Space and Beyond injects a touch of classicality into proceedings during a smouldering intro before finding an acoustic rock groove. A theatrical track, it delivers twists and turns during an unexpected composition that proves a highlight.
Eternità is suitably expansive, bringing the EP to a close with plenty of pizazz thanks to the addition of Antonella Suella’s operatic vocals.
We’ve been covering the work of the Italian collective for over a year now and each new release adds something new while staying true to their unique outlook. They have a quirky sound that some may find a little too out there, but those looking to be intellectually stimulated need look no further. We Are All Bots feels like their most important and timely work to date.
The EP is out now and you can give it a listen below.
