Characterised by the striking poetry of its first verse, Above The Water is an instantly gripping indie rock track. The vocals are characterful in their delivery while the instrumental stays smouldering throughout. A cathartic chorus lets its all out before we get hints of folk and country in an instrumental interlude. Written and fronted by singer-songwriter Andi Lee Scher, the track and album of the same name explore grief, healing, and personal rebirth.

“Above the Water is a celebration of resilience, healing, and a renewed commitment to self after wading through the messiest part of my life,” says Scher. “Many of these songs were written in the middle of the healing process and feel like they revealed themselves to me to tell me what I needed to hear in moments of deep grief, heartache, and uncertainty. Despite its dark undertones, this album serves as a reclamation of self, a rebuilding of life, and a return to the thing I love most – music. As I sing in [album track] Made Up My Mind, ‘I have weathered all these storms, and by god, I’m gonna sing these songs.’”
