Tell Myself It’s Fine wastes no time finding a jangly, indie rock groove. Electric guitar highlights add some texture before the understated vocals tell a melancholic story in the verse. Things get dreamy and wistful in the chorus before the groove comes back twice as hard. It’s a track that will have you feeling while also moving.
“The song is a cry out for help and somewhat a protest,” Devin says. “It’s about the times we live in now in the U.S. where division runs deep. With a dynamic soundscape, the song captures the tension of navigating identity, fear, and hope — all while trying to convince yourself it’s fine.”
Devin was born in Massachusetts and raised in Florida where he still resides. His influences include an eclectic mix of artists such as Billy Idol, The Strokes and Sting.
Tell Myself It’s Fine is out now and you can give it a listen below.
