Newton Faulkner goes electric for vibrant new single

Newton Faulkner‘s renaissance continues with another new single, showing us a different side to his revived sound.

By Graeme Smith

Faulkner’s latest, Gravitational, takes an electronic pop deviation from recent releases. Things come to a boil in a vibrant and bouncy chorus which combines romantic overtones with a certain uncertain introspection. A dreamy bridge sets up the big finish nicely.

“I loved working on the production… I got to use all my toys, even my vocoder,” he says of the single. “I do find it funny that people still think of me as a really purist acoustic, wood-and-strings guy, when in reality I spend half my life playing synths and goofing around with drum loops and vocoders. I hope it’s as fun to listen to as it was to make.”

The track is taken from his upcoming album, OCTOPUS, set for release 19 September via Cooking Vinyl. It will feature alongside recent singles, Alright Alright Alright with Bloom Twins, and Hunting Season with Los Bitchos and Lissie. You can pre-order the album here.

Newton Faulkner comes to Project House in Leeds on 22 October 2025.
