A songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Kettering, Northamptonshire, Bill Fever makes his York Calling debut through his new single, inspired by bizarre AI generations and the potential impact AI may have on the field of human creativity.

His new single Nightmare Fuel is full of echoing, shimmering, U2-esque riffs over which passionate vocals are poured. It’s in the chorus that the track really comes into its element, with a repeating, haunting refrain and memorable melody. It feels both familiar and fresh, the hallmark of an instant classic, and the big finish is sublime.
“When I first wrote the lyrics to this song, it was quite easy to tell when you saw AI stuff out in the wild, but now it’s getting so believable,” says Bill of the track. “I always said that we’re fucked in trouble once AI figures out how to do fingers, well I think it can now. It’s a new kind of nightmare, a modern nightmare… the implications it’s going to have on us in the creative industry, the political impact it could have. I guess weird fingers are the least of our worries.”
Bill Fever has spent the last few years building a live band so this is the first new music he’s released since 2022. It’s proven perfect timing to get him on our radar.
