In January 2025, Karen Salicath Jamali hit my radar with an intriguing proposition – a series of unfiltered compositions received from angels.
By Graeme Smith
There were sixteen altogether on her album Dreams of Angels. Now, she’s back with a new piece that comes with an intimate performance video.
Footage of Salicath performing Angel Haniels Clearing expressively on grand piano is interspersed with natural imagery, emphasising the instinctive nature of the work.
“It came as light, sound, and presence,” Salicath says. “This is how all my music begins—not written, but received.”
Karen Salicath is a Danish-American composer, pianist, and multidisciplinary artist based in New York and Florida, USA. It was a near death experience in 2012 that sparked her unique ability. To date, she had composed over 2,500 individual works and has released eight albums.
Angel Haniels Clearing is out now and you can give it a listen below.
