Hamilton Hound spits political fire in soulful single

With our world seemingly catching on fire, Hamilton Hound meditates on a new beginning in his latest track, Flames.

By Graeme Smith

There’s a classic soulfulness to Flames that captures your attention right from the off. A gentle intro gives way to a spoken word verse full of political fire. Its message is brought to life through every day storytelling detail, and it’s convincing. The track covers The World (is Going Up in Flames) by Charles Bradley in the chorus line, with the vocals rerecorded By AP Wilson and piano from Mo Marshall. If you ever thought soul music belonged in the past, it’s a timely reminder that it’s as relevant as ever.

Also featuring on the track are James Mason and up-and-coming singer Rhianna Jackson.

The Bearsted, Kent-based Hamilton Hound has appeared on our blog a couple of times before. In February 2025, he hit our radar through a grief-stricken groove called You Don’t Have To Hide. In May, he followed that up with White Noise, a collaboration with James Mason all about urban under-culture. He’s fast becoming a favourite.

His latest single, Flames, is out now, and you can listen to it below.
