(They say it’s like) Riding A Bike is the collaborative single from Dan Whitehouse and Jasmine Gardosi.

With a sultry, jazzy instrumental as a backdrop, Gardosi tells her story of a bike crash in a spoken word verse that gives away to a groovy, offbeat chorus. As the track unfolds, the bike accident becomes a metaphor for life, in clever, witty, astute observations.

“There’s a reason we say, ‘It’s like riding a bike,’” says Gardosi. “The body remembers. The heart does too. This song is about those moments when we think we can’t keep going, but somehow, we do.”

Whitehouse adds: “mental health-wise, it’s a reminder that it’s OK to ‘fall off’. I guess what matters is getting back on, even if the wheels feel wobbly.”

It feels a timely and important message in a world where our pace is ever-increasing, and our resilience often can’t keep up. There’s joy in its composition too, making it a warm and delightful listening experience.

Riding A Bike was born from the project Black Country Bikes: Music in Motion, a Birmingham-based songwriting and community project Whitehouse and Gardosi co-led in 2024 which brought together a diverse community of cyclists, poets, musicians, and first-time songwriters to explore the question: “What does it feel like to ride a bike?”
