The brilliantly unique Wombo release latest single to tee up their imminent new album.
By Graeme Smith
Looping percussion and cutting chords shape the early running of S.T. Tilted before meandering bass and an intricate guitar arrangement take over. By the time Sydney Chadwick’s contrastingly soft vocals comes in, you’re hooked. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Wombo sound like nothing else out there.
Of the track, Wombo’s guitarist Cameron Lowe said: “It’s the first song we wrote after the Slab EP that made it on Danger in Fives. We weren’t sure it was going to work, but all the contrasting parts ended up being cool. It’s rare for a Wombo song to be written on guitar first like this one, with some of the bass and drum parts jammed out in the basement afterwards. The wacky guitar part came last.”
Wombo first hit the pages of our blog in June 2025. Through their offbeat track, Neon Bog. S.T. Tilted feels like an extension of the theme. The two tracks’ videos have a similar aesthetic and seem to tell a wider story.
The band’s new album, Danger in Fives, is out this Friday, 8 August 2025 via Fire Talk Records. S.T. Tilted is out now, and you can listen to it below.
